Area History
The AECO was founded in 1977 with the coming of Prof. Sidney Silva Lima for COPPE and consolidated its position as Area of ??Concentration of Ocean Engineering Program , recognized by CAPES , with the hiring of Prof. Victor Freire Motta in May 1979. Since that time, have been defended over 100 master's theses and 20 doctoral , and many alumni AECO today are teachers in other Brazilian universities , spreading the hydraulic maritime education , coastal engineering and port . Other alumni currently work in private and state-owned enterprises , federal agencies , national agencies and military institutions.
